"Cyprus has a very efficient and advanced professional services sector, such as in legal, accounting and tax planning. This facilitates economic growth and sustainability, whilst truly making Cyprus one of the most favourable investment jurisdictions and financial hubs in the world."
Cyprus has extremely well developed infrastructure, particularly set and focused on professional services, i.e. financial sector, onshore and offshore business activities to aid investments, such as registering various beneficial Cyprus company formations, international banking, accounting-tax-auditing, wealth management, business consulting and finance strategies. Indeed, Cyprus is recognised as an international centre of excellence for the provision of professional services. Key strengths include accession of Cyprus to the European Union and the Eurozone, a developed, open-free market economy, advanced and attractive tax environment, extensive double taxation treaty network, robust and transparent supervisory/regulatory framework, economic stability, as well as a strategic location.
- Over 2,700 active, English-speaking, registered accountants in Cyprus. The vast majority also speak other languages, including Russian, Greek, Serbian, Arabic and French.
- Approximately 120 limited accounting firms and 40 partnerships operating in Cyprus.
- Over 2,100 registered advocates and 160 limited liability law firms providing a wide range of legal services in Cyprus. Over half of these lawyers hold UK legal qualifications.
- A highly educated and well trained labour market – multilingual, skilled, experienced and diverse. In fact, Cyprus has one of the highest education rates in Europe, with the vast majority of university graduate trained in the UK, USA, Europe and as far as Australia – 47% of population between 25 and 34 reached tertiary level, almost double the EU27 average.
Since entry to the EU and access to structural funds, Cyprus invested heavily in improving infrastructure. This includes better roads and highway upgrades, a new bus system for each major city, as well as inter-city connections, bicycle lanes and an initiative to implement bicycle rental service, a number of new marinas, as well as two brand new international airports, in Larnaca and Pafos. Together with the implementation of European civil aviation law, Cyprus is also now much better connected to Europe and the rest of the world, both with full fledge and low cost airlines. In addition, the country has excellent telecommunications and internet infrastructure, and is currently in the process of implementing fibre optics nationwide.
